This is my brand new blog that will be functioning as a portfolio for the time being. As of right now, it will be the documentation of my progress on my summer project. Here is a little blurb about my summer project and what I hope to accomplish with it. I have realized just how far behind I am in modeling, texturing, UVing, and animating for video games. As such, I need to work especially hard to get my skills to a point where I can succeed and become a viable candidate for the video game industry. This summer I am picking several video game companies, doing research on each one, and then creating art in their style. My first company that I have chosen is Riot Games, the creators of League of Legends. After many searches, I have found that League of Legends supports (well, quite frankly ignores) custom skinning for their characters. There are several programs out there that can rip all of the art out of the game, import it into Maya and Photoshop, and allow me to place my own custom models, icons, animations, particles, textures, and portraits into the game. I have started with redoing the model of Miss Fortune so that she has a beautiful, Royal Navy military outfit that doesn't defy gravity (and make her look like a total skank), pretty hair all done up in curls, smaller breasts because they were so disturbingly big, and a charming tricorn hat. I also hope to redo her dance animation as a test of my skills. So far, the model is nearing completion with only her hair, hat, and cuffs left to model. Next will be re-calibrating the skeleton and repainting weights followed by a new UV layout and texturing. Images coming soon!
